2021 has been a busy year for Shawn Bassett. He finished a complete rebuild of his Datsun 240Z then took it to the Pikes Peak Hill Climb to tick another item off his bucket list. It was at the 2021 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb that we finally got a chance to take a closer look at this one-off, unique build.

For Shawn Bassett, what started out as a cheap way into Z-car trackday fun has turned into a balls-out carbon-clad Pikes Peak monster! This is his LS-swapped Datsun 240Z.

Shawn Bassett, owner and builder of the famous carbon Datsun 240Z, joins us to talk about his journey on fabricating a race car for Pikes Peak.

Most companies displaying at the SEMA show always have some high-profile cars in the booth. The idea is to showcase one of these beauties at the show, which will in return, get people’s attention. Some spectators might not otherwise have much interest in the products on display. But, a properly built car will not only draw attention, but it will also showcase the company’s parts. This year was no different for the Holley crew, as they had some heavy hitters within the confines of their SEMA 2019 spot. The one that caught our eye was Shawn Bassett’s1972 240Z named Judy.

Shawn Bassett's 240z is a real "rags to riches" type automotive build, starting as a sub-$2k barn find - and ending up as the carbon bodied time attack beast you see before you now. And the best part? Shawn drives the hell out of this thing any chance he gets.

We got a chance to sit down with our buddy Shawn Bassett on his trip out to California to talk about the Attacking the Clock Full Carbon 240z and how this amazing build came to be.
