Toyo Tires // Toyo Tires Treadpass Returns to the 2022 SEMA Show with 28 World Debut Vehicle Builds

CYPRESS, CA – Toyo Tires® is returning to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas on November 1-4. 28 highly anticipated world-debut vehicles and a unique art installation and demonstration will be revealed by the company. Toyo Tires Treadpass, a popular destination for SEMA attendees, will be returning for its 9th year. Treadpass will showcase the largest concentration of world-debut vehicles and is located between the Central and South Halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center. On display adjacent to Treadpass will be an art installation by artist and photographer, 2wenty, and a live painting demonstration by artist and designer Gregory Siff.

28 vehicles will make their world-debuts at Treadpass including a first ever widebody Mercedes Benz 300 SL, a 1993 Mazda RX7 with a race spec M120 Mercedes V12 Motor and HGT Sequential transmission, a time attack inspired 2019 Audi RS3, and an all-new 2022 Ford Maverick. 

Artists Gregory Siff and 2wenty will collaborate on an art installation combining photography with live painting on a modified Subaru BRZ.  Gregory Siff is an artist that paints in a purposeful yet playful manner, his work exhibits meaning that is literal and open for interpretation of nostalgia and childhood.  His work has been featured in publications including the New York Times, Architectural Digest, and The Wall Street Journal along with various locations such as Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Moscow Museum of Modern Art, and Google HQ.  Additionally, he has worked with brands including Mercedes Benz, Helmut Lung, and adidas.  2wenty is a mix media artist and photographer that is known for using light as a central theme to his work.  He has worked with brands that include Arc’teryx and Stance, while his work has been featured at Art Basel, Forbes, and WIRED magazine.

On display at Treadpass will be the Open Country® R/T Trail, an all-new on- and off-road rugged terrain tire that delivers better off-road grip than a traditional all-terrain tire, most evident in sand, mud, and deep snow. It is a hybrid tire that is positioned between the M/T and A/T product categories and fills a role in between the popular Open Country R/T and best-selling Open Country A/T III. The tire will be produced in 47 unique size and load combinations for 16- to 24-inch wheel diameters and up to a 38-inch overall diameter. The most popular sizes will start to be available in November with additional sizes/fitments to follow in subsequent months.

The 10 pins featuring new Toyo Tires vehicles will be distributed at designated times during the show. Schedules for the pins will be available at both the Toyo Tires Treadpass and display in front of South Hall.

Preview of Select New Vehicle Builds at 2022 SEMA Show

Here are a few of the vehicles that show attendees will be able to view in this year’s Toyo Tires Treadpass.

1955 Mercedes Benz 300 SL Widebody

Built by John Sarkisyan and his team at S-Klub LA, this 1955 Mercedes Benz 300 SL Widebody is the first widebody Gullwing ever created, featuring a one-of-a-kind interior and a full carbon kit. Designed with a custom tube chassis, Currie rear end, and LS motor, this red-on-red design is a twist on a classic car. This Mercedes will be riding on HRE Wheels and Toyo Proxes R888R® tires.

1993 Mazda RX7

Sam Morris and Gooichi Motorsports will debut their 1993 Mazda RX7 at this year’s Treadpass. This build dubbed the ‘Pistachio FD’ will feature a LTO widebody kit, full Milspec SmartEFI harness on Haltech Nexus PDM, and a solid Ford 8.8 rear end. Under the hood is a high compression long rod race spec M120 Mercedes V12 Motor and HGT Sequential transmission that was fully designed and built inhouse. The RX7 will be rolling on Dkubus Bergmeister wheels and Toyo Proxes RR.

2019 Audi RS3

Built by Shawn Bassett, owner of Attacking the Clock Racing, this 2019 Audi RS3 pays homage to the golden era of Audi road racing. With inspiration of a modern “GTO”, this Audi showcases the full Attacking the Clock Racing time attack and hill climb aero treatment. The RS3 has an ultra-wide body made of full carbon fiber front to back and is 10 inches wider than stock.

The build also includes a 1200HP Capable IROZ motor, ATCR full carbon fiber aero package, custom BC Forged wheels, "Nurburg Spec" Moton coilovers, AST Air Jacks, a full ATCR "Pikes Peak spec" racing roll cage, and custom Audi GTO inspired Aero Discs (turbo fans), complete with Toyo Tires R888R 30536ZR18 square set up.

2022 Ford Maverick

Leif Johnson Specialty Vehicles, a division of Leif Johnson Ford, partnered with Saleen Performance Parts and 3dCarbon to debut their 2022 Ford Maverick. This custom painted Maverick features a complete body kit consisting of a front air dam, fender flares, grille surround, side skirts, roll pan, and tailgate spoiler. In addition, the build will showcase a JBL audio system and Air Bag It complete suspension, rolling on Toyo Proxes STIII® tires.

2021 Ford Bronco

Ralph Holguin and RMD Garage are set to debut their 2021 Ford Bronco and one-off urban utility trailer at Treadpass. This Bronco features a one-of-one hand crafted embedded badging on front fenders, custom “Velocity Blue” exterior paint, and a custom luxury interior with warm earth tones. The vehicle also contains masked taillights, hand built one-of-a-kind rear bolt panel pillars, customized Ford stock accessory tube doors, and the new Toyo Open Country R/T Trail tire.

The Bronco will be shown towing the one-off 5’ by 10’ urban utility trailer, designed by Holguin and build by the RMD Garage team. A special focus was put into the design creating both functionality and durability of this trailer. It serves as the ultimate adventure partner to the Bronco and is fully equipped to handle all off-road needs. The trailer is equipped with the newest solar power technology from Goal Zero with a fully custom interior.

1973 GT Ford Ranchero

In addition to the Ford Bronco, Ralph Holguin and RMD Garage will debut a 1973 GT Ford Ranchero. This Ranchero will feature a fully customized engine bay with a 5.0 Coyote motor, one-off handcrafted billet grille, and a beautifully modernized interior. To go with the custom designed door panels, center console, and one-of-one custom seats, the original dash was modified with new air vents, custom instrument gauges, and a Double Din in-dash radio to give the Ranchero a modernized feel.

In addition, the Ranchero has a fully custom bed with recessed French taillights, custom recessed bumpers, deleted trim and a custom smooth edge tailgate. RMD Garage custom fabricated a new 2-inch rear tub and the classic car will showcase a one-off custom paint job in the color Belize Blue Pearl along with Toyo Proxes Sport A/S tires.
